Viscosity (cSt)
Viscosity is a measure of a fluid's resistance to flow, expressed in centistokes (cSt) at 25°C in cosmetic chemistry. Lower cSt values indicate thinner, more easily flowing fluids; higher cSt values indicate thicker, more resistant fluids. Water has a viscosity of approximately 1 cSt. Honey is approximately 10,000 cSt. Cosmetic silicones range from 0.65 cSt (Hexamethyldisiloxane) to 300,000 cSt (high-viscosity dimethicones).
