Specific Gravity

Specific Gravity is the ratio of a substance's density to water's density (water = 1.0). Cosmetic silicones typically have specific gravities between 0.76 (Hexamethyldisiloxane) and 0.99 (high-viscosity dimethicones and resin-modified silicones). Lower specific gravity correlates with lighter sensory feel.
