PRODUCT FAMILY
Speciality Cosmetic Resin And Film Formers
Resin-modified silicones and silsesquioxane-based film formers deliver long-wear performance, water resistance, and matte finish. The family includes polymethylsilsesquioxane dispersions and phenyl propyl dimethyl siloxysilicates — the chemistries behind today's longwear color cosmetics and water-resistant sunscreens. Every product in this family contributes to the final finish and durability of a formulation, not its initial skin feel.

The Chemistry
Silicone resins differ from fluid silicones in their three-dimensional, branched network structure. Where dimethicone consists of linear chains (D units), silicone resins incorporate T-units (trifunctional siloxane) and Q-units (tetrafunctional siloxane) alongside D-units to form a rigid, non-flowing polymer network. This architecture delivers properties unavailable in linear silicones: adhesion to skin and hair surfaces, water resistance, solvent resistance, and the ability to form an occlusive film that extends wear. Polymethylsilsesquioxane (PMSQ) — built entirely from T-units — forms a fine powder that blurs skin texture while mattifying. Silicone resin blends in fluid carriers are used in longwear foundations and lip products to bond pigments to skin and resist transfer.

Fluid silicones such as dimethicone are linear chains (D units). Silicone resins add T-units (trifunctional) and Q-units (tetrafunctional) to form a rigid, branched, non-flowing network. This delivers adhesion to skin and hair, water and solvent resistance, and an occlusive film that extends wear.

Polymethylsilsesquioxane (PMSQ) is a silicone resin built entirely from T-units. It forms a fine powder that blurs skin texture while mattifying. NISHKA supplies PMSQ dispersions including NISH 4020 (in Isododecane) and NISH 4021 (in Dimethicone).
