Speciality Cosmetic Sensory Performance Blends

Sensory blends are multi-silicone formulations developed for the moment a finished cosmetic product is applied. By pairing volatile carriers (Cyclopentasiloxane, low-cSt dimethicones) with high-molecular-weight conditioning silicones (Dimethiconol, Phenyl Trimethicone, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Caprylyl Methicone), NISHKA's 19-product sensory blend family delivers light spread, smooth film formation, lasting conditioning, and a finished sensory touch tuned to specific formulation briefs. These blends are the workhorses of premium personal care — used in haircare leave-ins, skincare serums, BB and CC creams, color cosmetic primers, and suncare formulations across global markets.

The Chemistry

Sensory performance blends work by combining the complementary properties of two or more silicone chemistries into a single ingredient. The volatile carrier — typically a propyl trisiloxane, a low-viscosity dimethicone, or Cyclopentasiloxane — delivers initial spreadability and evaporates to leave no tacky residue. The high-molecular-weight silicone component (Dimethiconol, Dimethicone Crosspolymer) provides lasting conditioning, film formation, and the sensory finish — silky, smooth, cushiony, or glossy depending on the chemistry selected. Each NISHKA sensory blend is characterized by its volatile-to-non-volatile ratio, its INCI declaration, and its documented sensory profile — enabling formulators to specify a blend by end-feel rather than by building the system from individual components.
