Speciality Cosmetic Dimethicone Fluids
Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is the foundation of modern cosmetic silicone chemistry. Manufactured by Nishka Alliance across the complete viscosity range — from 5 cSt through 100, 350, 60,000, — each linear dimethicone fluid is synthesised for a specific formulation role. Low-viscosity dimethicones (5–50 cSt) deliver light skin conditioning and spreadability. Medium-viscosity grades (100–350 cSt) provide cushion and protective film formation. Ultra-high-viscosity dimethicones and dimethicone gums 5000–20,00,000 cST deliver deep hair sealing, frizz control, and long-lasting conditioning. All NISHKA dimethicones share the INCI name Dimethicone 63148-62-9 and are manufactured to consistent batch specifications under ISO 9001:2015 quality management.

The Chemistry
Dimethicone — polydimethylsiloxane, PDMS — is a linear silicone polymer composed of repeating dimethylsiloxane units terminated by trimethylsilyl groups. Viscosity correlates directly with chain length: a 5 cSt dimethicone consists of approximately 30–40 repeating units; a 300,000 cSt dimethicone gum may exceed 5,000 units. Chemical properties remain remarkably consistent across the viscosity range — refractive index 1.40–1.41, specific gravity 0.95–0.98, hydrophobic, chemically inert, thermally stable up to 200°C. What changes with viscosity is sensory performance: low viscosity grades feel light and quick-absorbing; high viscosity grades feel cushiony and substantive. This makes dimethicone the most versatile single chemistry in cosmetic silicone formulation.
