Cyclopentasiloxane

Cyclopentasiloxane (D5) is the INCI name for a cyclic silicone with five siloxane units in a ring structure. CAS number 541-02-6. Used as a volatile carrier in skincare, haircare, and color cosmetic formulations to deliver fast spreadability and evaporation without residue. Regulatory note: Cyclopentasiloxane is SVHC-listed under EU REACH and is restricted in wash-off cosmetic products in the EU and UK above 0.1% by weight since 2020. Leave-on cosmetic restrictions have tightened in 2024. NISHKA offers NISH PT103 (Propyl Trisiloxane) as a non-cyclic alternative with comparable performance.
