D4

D4 is the shorthand name for Cyclotetrasiloxane (also called Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane) — a cyclic silicone with four siloxane units, CAS 556-67-2. SVHC-listed under EU REACH at the lowest concentration thresholds of the cyclic siloxanes. Largely eliminated from modern cosmetic formulations. See also: D5 (Cyclopentasiloxane).
