Speciality Cosmetic Silicone Elastomers
Silicone elastomer gels deliver silky texture, soft-focus blurring, oil control, and active delivery in a single ingredient. NISHKA's elastomer family — NISH 4011, NISH EL 450, and NISH EL455 — is built on high molecular weight Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer chemistries, dispersed in either Cyclopentasiloxane carrier (for volatile-carrier formulations) or non-cyclic Dimethicone and natural oil carriers (for D5-restricted markets). These elastomer gels are formulated into premium primers, foundations, BB and CC creams, sun protection lotions, and skincare textures across global cosmetic markets.

The Chemistry
Silicone elastomers are three-dimensional crosslinked polymers — unlike the linear chains of dimethicone fluids, elastomers form a network structure that gives them their distinctive gel texture and optical properties. The crosslink density controls the modulus: higher crosslink density gives a firmer gel with stronger oil absorption and mattifying effect; lower density gives a softer gel with greater cushion and skin adhesion. Dispersed (Propyl Trisiloxane, D5, Dimethicone), elastomers can be incorporated directly into formulations without dilution or pre-processing. The carrier choice matters: D5-based elastomers deliver faster initial feel; dimethicone-based elastomers leave a more substantive conditioning finish.

Silicone Elastomers — Frequently Asked
-
Silicone elastomer gels deliver silky texture, soft-focus blurring, oil control, and active delivery in a single ingredient. -
Cyclopentasiloxane (D5)-based elastomers such as NISH EL 450 deliver a faster initial feel, while Dimethicone-based elastomers such as NISH EL455 leave a more substantive conditioning finish and suit D5-restricted markets. Both provide the same crosspolymer benefits — blurring, oil control, and smooth glide — and are interchangeable in most formulation systems.
-
NISHKA elastomers are supplied as gels already dispersed in a carrier fluid (Cyclopentasiloxane, or Dimethicone and natural oils), so they can be incorporated directly into formulations without dilution or pre-processing.
